Beatles for Sale (EP)

This article is all about the Beatles for Sale EP, not the album of the same name. So, if that is what you need, check it out here.

On April 6, 1965, The Beatles released their eighth EP, “Beatles for Sale.” Indeed, this was around four months after they released the 14-track album by the same name. So, how did they decide which four songs to take off the parent album for this release?

The parent album was complete before 1964 came to a close. Meanwhile, the Fab Four were recording tracks for their Help! album. Therefore, releasing this EP meant that the band’s music was continuous. Moreover, they would release another EP called Beatles for Sale No. 2 in less than two months. So, if you need to check that one out, it is here.

We will list the four songs on this EP after we provide some useful information.

  • Released: April 6, 1965
  • Recorded: EMI Studios, London (in 1964)

  • Genre: Rock and pop, folk rock

The record sleeve is similar to that of the parent, of course.

Just four days after its release, the EP charted. Moreover, after two more weeks, it reached number one in the charts. It stayed at the top for five consecutive weeks and even managed another week at the top shortly after it dropped.

This EP is an absolute rocker; it is raw and so full of energy. Imagine a teenager being given this record on their birthday!

Finally, can you remember when this EP was on the charts? Indeed, did you buy it?
