Young Blood: Introduction
“Young Blood” is a cover song by The Beatles. Indeed, there is a version of this on their album, “Live At The BBC.” This song gave “The Coasters” some chart success in 1957, albeit a B-side.
However, The Beatles were masters of cover songs in their early days, and this was one they would perform. In fact, they would perform this many times while gigging, including at the Cavern Club.
Not only did they perform this at their gigs, they recorded “Young Blood” for their BBC Radio shows. So, we find this song on their “Live At The BBC” album.

Young Blood: Background
As we see above, this song was originally a recording by The Coasters, but it was a B-side to their chart hit “Searchin’.” The Beatles also covered that song; those details are here. In fact, “Searchin'” was also on The Beatles’ Decca Audition Tape.
There is a recording of The Beatles singing this live in the Cavern Club, Liverpool, but Paul McCartney has this safely locked away. Indeed, Paul won this at Sotheby’s auction house after a fan made it available; presumably the fan secretly recorded this.
However, nothing from that tape is available as of yet, sadly. Maybe one day Paul will release this recording. With it being an early 1960s recording, possibly amateurish, perhaps the quality is deemed too poor to release. This is just speculation, of course.
In 1994, a recording of Young Blood did become available after the release of the Anthology series, of course. In fact, this particular version is a recording from their “Live At The BBC” sessions from June 1, 1963.
