So How Come (No One Loves Me): Background
The Beatles would often sing cover songs before they became famous, like most other budding artists. This obscure yet catchy song, originally sung by Don and Phil Everly, allowed the Fab Four to show their appreciation for the duo. But The Beatles only recorded “So How Come (No One Loves Me)” once for a BBC radio programme.
Throughout the song, the melancholy tone continually reminds us of the singer’s lonely plight. In this case, George Harrison is singing lead vocals, while harmony vocals come from John Lennon. To all intents and purposes, Harrison and Lennon sing together as a duet throughout. However, it is noticeable how George Harrison took on the higher harmony while John Lennon sang the lower harmony.
Recording Studio
The Beatles recorded “So How Come (No One Loves Me)” in the Aeolian Hall in London on July 10, 1963. That recording took to the airwaves on June 23rd that year during an edition of “Pop Go The Beatles,” which was a regular BBC Radio show. It’s this recording that is available on The Beatles’ “Live At The BBC” album from 1994.
