The Beatles’ fifth extended play 7-inch record is called The Long Tall Sally (EP), and we are going to examine it in detail. Like their previous four EPs, this also has four tracks.
However, unlike their first four EPs, which took songs from their albums, this one differs. Indeed, all tracks on this EP were not commercially available by the Fab Four. But three of the tracks are cover songs.
So, are we going to have a record that people will want, and how well did it do? Firstly, let us get into the nitty-gritty.

Long Tall Sally (EP): Chart Success
When John Lennon met Paul McCartney, he sang Long Tall Sally to him. So, it is clear what type of music was around at the time. They recorded the song in one take without any further input.
The EP charts show that after it entered the charts on July 4, 1964, it reached number one. Not only that, but it stayed there for seven weeks.
It also got to number 11 on the singles chart. It sold over a million copies across the globe and over a quarter of a million in the UK.

All tracks from this EP are now available on the 1988 Past Masters, Volume One album. So, what are your thoughts about this 7-inch EP? Let us know in the comments below. You can also use our forum to socially interact with other fans of the Fab Four.
