Paul McCartney's Christmas Gift To The Beatles, 1965

Post by Julia »

It was Christmas 1965, and Paul McCartney was wondering what to give the rest of The Beatles.
So, he made a homemade tape — acting as a DJ and playing songs just like on the radio.
Paul even put on a Mid-Atlantic accent, and it’s surprisingly good!

He then took the tape to a publisher, who turned it into a disc — as we called them in those days.
Only four copies were ever made, one each for John, Paul, George, and Ringo.
Over the years, all were thought to be lost, but fragments have resurfaced.
Paul called the record *“Unforgettable.”* It’s an amazing glimpse into his creativity and humour.

Here is an example of the surviving recording:

I saw this some time ago and heard it all the way through.
Such a shame that it's a little incomplete.
By the way, the mug shot of Paul McCartney is cool.

Brilliant, but I did see this from a Facebook link a few weeks ago.
I wonder what went through Paul's head at the time.
Amazing bit of history, so let's hope the rest of this tape turns up.
Fingers crossed.

A true collector's item if there was ever one to be found.
I can't see one existing, though, I really can't.

I doubt whether an original record exists, but maybe the full tape is locked away somewhere ;)
