You can still get a hold of this song on the following album:

This is one of only a few Beatles’ songs, which gives credit to all The Beatles: Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, and Starkey. The last time all the band composed together was on the “Magical Mystery Tour” project in 1967. Then, it was the instrumental on the album, “Flying.”

Due to the way they performed the original jamming session, they included a lot of improvisation. Therefore, the lyrics were haphazard at the time. Nonetheless, they made something of the jam, and it became part of the original release of the 1970 album “Let It Be.”

However, that track was only 51 seconds in length. Furthermore, it doesn’t feature at all on the 2003 album “Let It Be… Naked.” They also dropped “Maggie Mae” for that release too.

The Beatles humour shows on the album track when Lennon speaks at the end of it in a falsetto: “That was ‘Can You Dig It?’ by Georgie Wood, and now we’d like to do ‘Hark, the Angels Come’.

Also, Linda Eastman’s six-year-old daughter, Heather, gets in on the act with an impromptu vocal part. However, her contribution is only available in the full version. Paul McCartney married Linda Eastman in March this year, as well as adopting Heather later.

The longer version from the “Let It Be 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition” is here.

There are four versions of “Dig It” available, with variations of them coming from the following day’s “Get Back/Let It Be” recording sessions: January 24, 26, 28, and 29, 1969:

  • Firstly, there is the “Let It Be” album version, which is 51 seconds long.
  • Secondly, there is a Get Back Mix running for 4 minutes and 24 seconds.
  • Thirdly, the “full version” lasts 8 minutes and 20 seconds.
  • Then there is a full jam session lasting for 15 minutes and 5 seconds.
